A person was caught on digital camera breaking right into a Greek restaurant in Miami

MIAMI – Miami Police are looking for a thief who was caught on surveillance video overnight breaking into a Greek restaurant.

The incident took place at Spyro’s of Athens, located at 100 S. Biscayne Blvd.

The owner told Local 10 News that a man broke into the store and stole the cash register.

A surveillance video shows him jumping over the counter to get there.

“Bad. Angry. But anyway, life goes on and we will stay open for business, just as we are today from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm,” said Guery Villarroel.

The cash register had $ 450 in it.

Villarroel said they had been in business for 19 years and were struggling to stay open amid the coronavirus pandemic. He said he was grateful the thief didn’t also steal the second cash register, which was $ 150.

Crime scene technicians looked for fingerprints after the break-in to catch the thief.

Anyone with identity information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
