BREAKING NEWS: KEY WEST MAYOR REACHES 22 PM CURFEW FOR THE ENTIRE NEW YEAR WEEKEND, COMMON OPINIONS GIVEN AMONG THE COMMISSIONERS
Key West Mayor Teri Johnston, after extensive discussion at the town commissioner’s meeting Thursday, issued an emergency policy providing for a curfew to avoid a public health emergency during the New Year break.
The policy reads: “Starting Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. and ending on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 6:00 a.m., a curfew is hereby imposed on the city of Key West effective from 10:00 p.m. every night through 6:00 a.m. The next morning. All non-essential businesses close at or before 10 p.m. every evening. People must be in their dormitories or accommodations by 10:30 p.m. every evening. During this curfew, no one is allowed to use a street or sidewalk for any purpose except police, fire departments, first responders, medical personnel, healthcare, media and repair personnel. “
The curfew does not apply to individuals returning directly to their homes from work in critical facilities or going to work directly from their homes to critical facilities. Persons who make deliveries of essential facilities; People who run their dogs within 250 feet of their homes; and those traveling to or from a service.
