Byron offers NASCAR one other shock winner at Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) – William Byron gave NASCAR its third surprise winner in three weeks, but it wasn’t quite as breathtaking as the first two at Daytona International Speedway.

Byron controlled most of the final two stages at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday and won 111 Cup starts for the second time. His first time came in Daytona last August, earning him one of the last places in the playoffs. Nobody saw it coming. And only a few had this one on their radar.

Byron went into the weekend with a 28-1 shot to win the race.
