Clayton Brown, 93, a resident of Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, died at The Elms Center, Milford, New Hampshire, on Oct. 23, 2022, after a period of declining health.

Clayton was born on March 17, 1929, the son of the late Harold and Cecile Brown. Clayton is predeceased by his sister, Janice (Brown) Woodman. Initially, Clayton lived in Barrington, Rhode Island, and after graduation from high school, he moved to Lyndeborough in 1947 to the “Wishbone Farm,” which became his homestead for the next 75 years. It was in Lyndeborough he met the love of his life, Pauline (Bullard) Brown, to whom he was blessed to share 71 years of marriage.

Clayton was a community man. He loved the town of Lyndeborough and spent many years working for the DPW and as a rural letter carrier. He retired in 1989 and, at that time, he and Polly traveled extensively in their camper and enjoyed time at their cottage in Islesboro, Maine. Additionally, Clayton served the town of Lyndeborough by being an active member of many committees and worked on the Center Church Restoration Project.

Survivors include his loving wife, Polly Brown, of Lyndeborough; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Nancy Brown of Lyndeborough and Scott and Barbara Brown also of Lyndeborough; his daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Mark Palermo of Rindge, New Hampshire; grandchildren, David (Justin) of Seattle, Washington, Christopher (Sarah) of Milford, Elizabeth (Rick) of Lyndeborough, Jeremiah (Caitlyn) of Lyndeborough, Jaymie (Jeremy) of Antrim, New Hampshire; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Olivia, Forrest, Finley, Liam and Maverick. Two sister-in-law’s, Margaret McEntee of Lyndeborough and Caroline Sebastiano of Florida and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

SERVICES: In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be in the spring in Lyndeborough Center Church, date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lyndeborough Historical Society, in care of Stephanie Roper, 35 Brandy Brook Road, Lyndeborough, N.H. 03082.
