Huge mass protests in entrance of the Freedom Tower in Downtown Miami demanding Cuban freedom

MIAMI – Another day of demonstrations in Cuba and South Florida as calls for change continue.

A major protest in Downtown Miami occurred on Saturday afternoon and into the evening in front of the Freedom Tower.

Everyone in the crowd has a connection to the communist country.

Joel Gandara was just four years old when he came from Cuba by boat.

“If the boat went up I would only see the sky,” he said.

A similar story for Rosa Iglesas, who left the island at the age of 19.

“My country needed what I came here to do; Freedom, ”she said.

Iglesas’ daughter, who is now striving for freedom with her.

“My parents came from Cuba and they made my life better here, they gave me freedom,” said Gabriella Quinitero.

They were some of the thousands who came to the Freedom Tower on Saturday, a landmark for Cubans looking for a better life.

The massive rally marked the seventh straight day of protests in South Florida, with many calling for President Joe Biden to take action.

The unprecedented riots that have come with the deteriorating conditions in Cuba are made worse by the recent pandemic.

The rally ended with the Freedom Tower illuminated in the colors of the Cuban flag.

The FTX Arena, the home area of ​​the Miami Heat across the street, also showed a message of solidarity.
