NASCAR Homestead-Miami Climate Forecast: Principally dry, likelihood of rain within the early weekend.

The 2012 NASCAR season ends this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. I expect most of the time this weekend will be dry, but the possibility of a temporary shower in the late afternoon and Saturday cannot be ruled out.

This afternoon there is an intermittent series of showers east of Homestead-Miami Speedway just offshore, drifting slowly from west to southwest. Many of them will fall apart when they reach the country, but some might stick together and make the route. These showers are powerful enough to cancel a scheduled practice session or qualifying later today. See the full schedule and forecast below.

The same scenario is possible for Saturday, with a mixture of sun and clouds and the option of a temporary shower. It will be dry most of the time, but some showers can form along a deadlocked border off the coast and drift inland across the track, which can cause potential problems.

The Sprint Cup final on Sunday looks mostly dry and mostly sunny. There are still some questions about whether or not isolated showers might form late in the day, but for now I’ll leave them out. I’ll wait for more data to come in and might see showers mentioned in tomorrow’s weather forecast. Temperatures for today through Sunday are nice and warm with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to near 80.
