Officers examine capturing, carjacking in Homestead, Florida Metropolis – NBC 6 South Florida

Police in Homestead and Florida City are investigating a shooting and armed carjacking that resulted in a crash that seriously injured two people, including the suspect, Thursday morning.

The carjacking and shooting took place around 8 a.m. in the Palm Drive and Northwest 6th Avenue area of ​​Florida City, police said.

The suspect shot but missed the victim of carjacking, authorities said.

The suspect then escaped in the victim’s car before crashing in the Redland Road and Northwest 8th Street area of ​​Homestead.

The suspect was flown to a local hospital in critical condition along with the driver he crashed into.

A local resident said she went out to help the woman involved in the crash.

“I literally see this lady crawling on the floor with her two children, so I immediately run out my front door and take her into the house and try to calm her down,” said Chloe Blocher.

The authorities have found a gun at the scene of the accident, officials said. The carjacking victim suffered no injuries.

Florida City and the Homestead Police Department are investigating the incident.
