Sofia Fernandez Joins MKDA Miami Structure Studio as Mission Designer | Milo Kleinberg Design Associates (MKDA)
MIAMI, FL – MKDA announced today that Sofia Fernandez has joined their Miami architecture studio as a project designer. In her role, Ms. Fernandez will leverage more than 10 years of workplace and retail design experience to provide customers with experience-driven and people-centered design solutions from pre-planning to construction to occupancy and beyond.

She has a wealth of creative and technical expertise in workplace design, retail and branding, ”said Amanda Hertzler, MKDA’s Executive Managing Director. “With her strong research-based approach and experience in the New York industry, she brings both a practical and a fresh design perspective to our Miami studio.”
Ms. Fernandez was most recently a designer at Gensler NYC, where she designed workplace projects ranging from technology, media, finance, legal, and nonprofits. Notable projects include the CitiBank headquarters, Disney Media headquarters, General Electric Marketing Office, Colony Capital Inc., and Latino Justice. In addition, Ms. Fernandez served as the “Membership Chair” of the ToastMasters International Gensler Chapter, helped develop Gensler’s nonprofit sector, served on her studio’s BIM technology task force, and participated in their SLAM softball team.
Prior to Gensler, Ms. Fernandez was a designer at The Jones Group, Inc. and Nine West Group, Inc. where she designed and developed compelling retail concept environments from concept to completion.
Ms. Fernandez was a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers, the International Interior Design Association, and the Retail Design Institute. She completed Cum Laude at SCAD with multiple awards and recognitions, including the Graduation Award for Excellence, the Interior Design Faculty Award, and the Inter Club Council’s Outstanding Service Project of the Year.
