Michael De Lucca, president, Broward Regional Health Planning Council, Inc.
Last week: David Ortiz, a 10-time All-Star over 20 seasons, mostly with the Red Sox, was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame after appearing on his first Baseball Writers’ Association of America ballot. Other players who were up for consideration included Sammy Sosa, Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds – all of whom were in their final year of being eligible into making the Hall of Fame, but none of whom were voted in. Ortiz is the youngest player to be honored at 47, is the fourth Dominican-born member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and is the 58th first ballot Hall of Famer of all time.
