South Florida 100: Prayers for Ukraine – South Florida Sun Sentinel
John “Jack” P. Seiler, former mayor, Fort Lauderdale
Last week: Thanks to Broward College, the Village Square Advisory Board and our sponsors, partners and members, we hosted an outstanding “Dinner at the Square: Facts, Clickbait or Fake News? The War on American News.” With an impressive panel of Evelyn Baker (Executive Producer of Univision Communications), Frank J. Guzman (Broward Bureau Chief for WSVN-TV), and Justin Sayfie (Publisher of Sayfie Review), along with an accomplished moderator, Ann Marie Sorrell (President of The Mosaic Group), we had a truly informative, interesting and entertaining debate about news, media and much more. The panel’s expertise, experience and insight made the event a huge success.
Looking ahead: With Russian forces attacking Ukraine, the United States of America, along with its democratic allies, NATO members and the United Nations, must condemn this unprovoked act of aggression in the strongest terms and take all necessary actions to penalize Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, for this military invasion. President Joe Biden must continue to organize, build and mobilize a unified global coalition in opposition to Russia, must impose severe and substantial sanctions to hold Russia accountable for this outrageous conduct, and must show the world that America will always lead to preserve and protect freedom, justice and human rights.
