Surveillance video shows the aftermath of the machete attack in Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Northwest Miami-Dade County police are searching for a man after a machete attack.

The incident happened around 8:37 a.m. Saturday morning at a convenience store near the intersection of Northwest 80th Street and 30th Avenue.

According to police, a physical altercation at the store resulted in the person striking the victim with a machete.

The victim went to a nearby gas station, where he called the police. He later spoke to Local 10 News’ Bridgette Matter about the incident and said he was attacked from behind.

“I didn’t see the guy,” said Donald, the victim, who declined to be identified beyond his first name. “He comes out from behind me and puts the machete on my head here and I go down.”

Donald said the man with the machete robbed him too.

“He put the machete in my body here and took $350 from me,” he said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported the victim to a nearby hospital in stable condition.


Donald had a cut on the top of his head that required about six staples. He also said he knew who his attacker was.

The man with the machete fled after the attack. Police describe him as a black man with a thin build and a beard. He was wearing all black clothing, police said.
