Trump to attend Miami-Dade rally with Rubio that excludes DeSantis

MIAMI – Former President Donald Trump plans to attend a political rally two days before Election Day in Miami-Dade County. He will be supporting Sen. Marco Rubio, who is running for reelection against US Rep. Val Demings.

The rally at the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition’s Fairgrounds at Tamiami Park doesn’t include Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is running for re-election against Rep. Charlie Crist, a former governor.

Cris asked DeSantis about his plans for the 2024 presidential elections during a recent debate in Fort Myers even though his campaign staff agreed to the debate’s rules, and one of them was that the candidates could not address each other.

“Will you serve a full four-year term if you’re reelected governor of Florida? It’s not a tough question,” Crist said. “It’s a fair question. He won’t tell you.”

DeSantis did not. The 44-year-old rising Republican star, who has raised over $100 million from donors around the country, did attack Crist, 66, with some ageism.

“I know that Charlie is interested in talking about 2024 and Joe Biden, but I just want to make things very, very clear: The only worn-out old donkey I’m looking to put out to pasture is Charlie Crist,” DeSantis said .

After Trump announced the rally on Wednesday, Politico referred to DeSantis’ exclusion as an “apparent snub” and Vanity Fair commented Trump “made it clear just how much he despises” DeSantis.

“You’ve got the Sunday before Election Day totally hijacked by Trump parachuting in on Trump Force One taking up the whole day,” a Republican consultant who is close to DeSantis, told Politico. “No Republican could go to a DeSantis event that day. None. And DeSantis won’t be here? This is big.”
