Woman shot dead in alleyway in northwest Miami-Dade
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating a shooting that left one woman dead.
According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, who is also a spokesman for the police department, officers responded to the area of Northwest 26th Avenue and 95th Street just before 7:10 am Tuesday after receiving a report about a body found in an alleyway.
He said officers spotted the body of a woman who had been shot.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
“From what I saw looking over there before the police got there and put the tarp, it was a young lady — possibly a Hispanic lady. She had on no bottom, and she only had on a top,” a woman who works nearby told Local 10 News.
The woman said a customer first alerted her to the shooting just before 7 am
“I’m thinking that it happened between 6:30 and 7,” she said. “A young gentleman that was on his way to work came in and told me that he heard a young lady scream, and he heard the gunfire.”
The woman said the man said he heard one shot.
For hours, detectives searched the alley for clues and at one point, they even used a drone to get a bird’s eye view of the scene.
But with little information to go off of, people who work and stay in the area hope detectives are able to track down her killer.
“I hope they get to the bottom of it. We need to get rid of the guns because it’s just senseless killing that’s going on,” the worker said. “A life is a life, no matter what happened or what is going on. It’s still a life that was lost. So it’s very, you know, very concerning.”
A nearby business owner told Local 10 News that he provided police with surveillance video to see if it captured the suspect.
Anyone with further information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
